Why do we need Suwa Arana

There are approximately 150 children warded at any one time at the Paediatric Unit of the Apeksha Hospital. Whilst the majority of the children recover there are also instances where palliative care (end of life care) must be given to some children and this will be the first such institute operational in Sri Lanka.

Why Suwa Arana is Important ?

Many families travel from all over the Island to seek diagnosis and treatment at the only paediatric oncology unit in the country at Apeksha Hospital. Treatment is long and arduous and clinic visits in-between chemotherapy session is frequent. The travelling and accommodation cost is enormous and sometimes treatment is interrupted as this is not affordable.

The close collaboration and proximity to Apeksha Hospital makes this service invaluable for our patients and their families.
